The game-playing girl: watched by hundreds of thousand people
Annie the Broadcaster
Annie is a full-time streamer, but does not do live broadcast or upload videos in a regularly schedule. She usually uploads video once or twice every week.
Interestingly, before January 2016, the very majority of the audience did not know how Annie looked like. What they pursued, at that time, was definitely not the beautiful lady, but her realest responses when playing games. People are also willing to support and sponsor her.
According to her, the biggest source of income is from YouTube and it is not necessarily stable – the more video she uploads, the more money she can get. She always saves up the money and prepares the future life.
She also get money from Twitch. The audience there can sponsor streamers with the US$4.99 (around HK$40 and Twitch will get half of it) monthly subscription or donations of any amount. This is the source of her pockey money and daily expenses.
More than these, another unstable income is sponsored game-playing. Annie says game companies may hit her up and pay her to play. It, however, can offer more pockey money to her.
Playing video games seems like a job that can be done on bed. Annie used to do it this way and lived in a small studio, but then she found it was better to separate work from home.
"(If) the working place is too close from the bed, a sense of laziness will naturally develop," she says, "And I will go play my phone eventually…This also creates a sense of ‘going to work’ for me, or else it will be too free."
To make suggestions for potential newcomers, Annie thinks they have to upgrade their computer hardwares, such as the microphone, CPU (central processing unit), and display card, to a level that it can bear the heavy operation of the broadcasting system.
She also says many accidents would happen for the first live show, like the game settings not working, or microphone’s sound not good, but these would get better as one tries for a few more times.
After the beginning period, one can then add more stuffs to the channel to make it more sophisticated and more like a professional programme: installing chatroom plug-in, subscription or donation messages, and so on.
With these efforts, the broadcaster can show the audience his/her serious notion of building an enjoyable channel.
Having broadcast for so long, she is commonly worried about accidents, for example, her computer crashing, accidentally showing her private Facebook information, and lagging of the streaming software.

One of the games she usually play in Twitch live broadcasts, which may start anytime, is the Minecraft Building Game, using elements in Minecraft to build according to the topic provided by other players and then players will make a guess on the answer.
