The LRT voice told what is behind microphone

Frustrations: When Her Works Disappeared

The most memorable job of her was from the Hong Kong Tourist Association (now called the Hong Kong Tourism Board) and she was hired to record solely five words.

“Hong Kong wonders never cease.”

Unexpectedly, Wendy was stuck in the studio for two hours, A boss-like man was just not satisfied with any of her takes.

It was so fed up that the sound engineer suggested starting the number of takes from one, as not to be embarrassing.

She just felt very frustrated since she could not imagine five words could consume so much time and had done a job in several minutes. She also apologised to the sound engineer who then replied “never mind” and she was the third girl doing the same thing.

Then the advertisement was on air. She surprisingly discovered that a man’s voice was chosen instead.

She says a script writer should consider the sound qualities before entering the studio, or else it will waste time and money and make dubber frustrated.

Another disappointing situation happened after she worked in a wine project. She said a few lines for the advertisement and would like to have a copy of her recording as a demo.

She had waited for long to see it on TV since that would not be avilable until it was broadcast. This is a rule in the industry.

She, nevertheless, never saw that.

Turning to the studio and asking what happened, she got the answers that the boss did not favour the model used in the advertisement.

Wendy still got the money, but not being able to see her production made her sad.
