Comparing The Theatre and Dubbing life

Wendy is an theatre actress in Chung Ying Theatre Company, one of the oldest in Hong Kong, though she is not frequently performing recently.

She was a drop-out from the Japanese department of The Polytechnic University and had paid full attention to the theatre. Her family was not accepting this  at the beginning, since they were afraid that she just would not stay long there and they still believed that having a degree would do much good.

She says standing on stage can receive energy from the audience and this does not happen in recording booths. She also feel very satisfied working with teams in plays.

However, she sometimes feels “vunluerable” and mentally “naked” when on stage. According to her, she has to work with many aspects to complete a play and any of them may become the key to failure.

She says once she supposed to be sexy, but with the red dress given to her, she looked like a piece of red preserved sausage.

Comparing to that, working in a studio is better. Wendy does not need to worry about any visual elements and she think she is like having a toolbox with her, letting her select any tools when necessary.

“I can choose what to use from there like drills or hammers… while I am in theatre, these tools get rusted.”
